Doris Umbers Doris Umbers received her PhD in English from Binghamton University where she edited the literary journal Harpur Palate. She served as Editorial Assistant to Binghamton’s Creative Writing Program and as Assistant to the Director of the Poetry Center in Paterson, New Jersey. She twice won the Academy of American Poets University Prize, and her poems appear in anthologies and journals such as Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art and the Paterson Literary Review. She founded Bluestone Quarry Press, a small broadside press, teaches at Empire State College, and currently is working on her first book length manuscript, What Persists.
