Maggie
Anderson
Maggie Anderson is the author of numerous
poetry collections and editor of several books and journals. Her
most recent publication, Windfall: New and Selected Poems (University
of Pittsburgh Press), won the Northern Ohio Live Award of
Achievement. She has also been awarded four Pushcart Prize Honorable
Mentions and an Ohioana Poetry Prize. Anderson earned a master's
degree in English and a master's in social work from West Virginia
University. She has taught at the University of Oregon, The Pennsylvania
State University, Hamilton College, and the University of Pittsburgh
and has served as Poet in Residence at over 30 locations. She is
former coordinator of the Appalachian Writers' Conference and the
Marshall County Poetry-Performing Arts Festival and has been awarded
fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the
Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the MacDowell Colony,
the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the West Virginia Arts and
Humanities Commission, the Ohio Arts Council, and the National Endowment
for the Arts. Anderson is Professor of English at Kent State University,
where she serves as coordinator of the Wick Poetry Program.
